I made this Halloween costume for my middle daughter a couple of years ago. She wanted to be an Egyptian pricess. I recycled an old Greek goddess costume I'd made for myself (I was Athena) -- just a rectangle of muslin with hemmed slits for arms and head and a few pleats at the shoulder for fullness. I got some sparkly jersey fabric -- the kind with Mylar "sequins" attached -- and made a headband, wristbands, a belt, and a "jeweled" collar.
The cobra on the headband is just two diamond-shaped pieces of fabric stitched together, with a thin piece of cardboard inserted inside. I turned the "head" down and tacked it into place before attaching it to the headband. The collar is just a circle with a hole in the middle and an opening in the back that fastened with Velcro. The headband, wristbands, and belt are just tubes of fabric with the ends hemmed or stitched together.
She wore a long-sleeved tee and leggings under the costume because she went trick-or-treating with a friend and it was cold.
Some Egyptian eyeliner completed the look.
My takeaway from this project was that a simple toga or tunic can be repurposed. I don't think this toga has seen its last Halloween.
wow i love this costume, be great for my kids on halloween ;)
